They meant NO disrespect. They posted artwork of the character America because, well, I don’t know… maybe because they’re fucking FUNimation. Alfred is the personified character of America, so associating him with a holiday isn’t RUDE or distasteful. It was a FUCKING piece of FANART that in NO WAY disrespected anyone. Their message was heartfelt and patriotic; adding a drawing of America colored with red, white and blue doesn’t take away from that.
Ya’ll are ridiculous.

I’ve just always wondered why the characters Alfred(US) and Matthew(Can) from Hetalia have been written so differently by fans.
I see it in fanfiction ALL OF THE TIME. Alfred is popular and everyone rants and raves about how handsome and perfect he is, while everyone else sees Matthew as just,
“Oh, it’s Al’s twin. He’s okay. I don’t even remember him.. like… ever.”
I understand their personalities are completely different, so that could lead to them being attractive on different levels, but I’m just talking about their appearance. They ARE TWINS, and the way they’re drawn their features are like 90% similar. So why at first glance is everyone attracted to the HANDSOME and PERFECT Alfred?
One day I’d love to read a fanfiction (Preferably a school AU) where Canada is looked at as handsome by the other characters, (As well as Alfred.) It just makes sense.
So I guess this all just boils down to my annoyance of a joke that is overused in the fandom… Canada being invisible and unnoticeable. Its always been a little annoying to me, and I just feel that its a cliche now.
Okay, I’m done being a fanfiction snob now. Does anyone else feel the same about this? If you know any good fanfiction without that annoying feature, please send suggestions my way.
Arthur Kirkland slammed the textbook of poetic elements shut and tossed it to the other end of the sofa he was laying on. He’d skimmed the chapters countless times, done all the work there was to do weeks in advance, and now the entertainment value, as well as the educational aspects, were gone.
“Damn it.”
It had been four months since the twenty-one year old had arrived in the United States under a study-abroad program from London. With perfect marks, a clean medical and criminal record, and proper income, there was no reason for the Brit to not jump at such an opportunity. So far the country was lovely, or at least Manhattan was. The city of New York wasn’t nearly as disgusting or crime-ridden as films made it out to be.
However, there had been a serious lacking in Arthur’s social life. It had been four months since he’d moved from home to New York.
It had also been four months since Arthur had gotten laid.
